Brown Sugar Kitchen

A new restaurant here in the Bay Area located in Oakland has been making a big statement with their unique dishes. Brown Sugar Kitchen offers dishes like no other. Such as their Cornmeal Waffles with Fried Chicken and their cast iron cornbread with brown sugar butter. The best part is it's all local organically grown with no hormones. Since there was a lot of good feedback about Brown Sugar Kitchen I figured I should check it for myself.

Recently, I took a visit to Brown Sugar Kitchen to get a bite to eat. I ordered the Cornmeal Waffles and Fried Chicken. Along with their Chicken and Shrimp Gumbo. I have to say the dishes were definitely like none other. The waffles were big, crunchy, and light like a pastry. It was definitely something that will have you amazed. The Fried Chicken was very delicious. Everything was perfect from the crispy texture to the seasoning. This is a dish that most customers call their favorite. The gumbo was great as well. It had just enough spiciness with a good amount of chicken and shrimp. This is a restaurant I recommend for people that are into good soul food. There was only a little problem with some of the food being slightly cold. Otherwise, I give Brown Sugar Kitchen a rating of 3.5 out of a 5.
